The entire crew was wonderful and attentive. Me (Male age 50) and my two adult children (21 and 19) all had a great time learning to surf. Be prepared to work hard in order to paddle out past the breaks, but riding the waves was unbelievable and lasted as long as 20 seconds on some great rides. The Go Pro package is a must as we have video we will cherish the rest of our lives. Thank you Surf HNL!!!

My husband and I took a two-hour lesson with Mike, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Oahu. We had never surfed before and by the end of the lesson we both got up several times. Mike gave us some instructions on the beach including safety precautions, and then took us out on the water where we got right at it. Mike was patient with us and also really encouraging. He also checked in often to make sure were holding up okay. Surfing is exhausting! Even though we're both physically fit, we were dead by the end of the lesson and sore for days afterward. We weren't planning on getting the media package, but after getting up on our boards, we definitely wanted photographic evidence, and were able to buy pictures without the go-pro. Our friends and family were definitely impressed when we showed them! HNL's communication is also really good. From booking to follow-up, they are great at keeping you informed. We were given detailed directions from our resort in Ko Olina so it was easy to get there, and the follow up with getting our pictures was also great. I also loved that this experience wasn't in a busy, touristy area. There was only one other group surfing while we were there and only a few locals enjoying the beach nearby. We've got the bug now and can't wait to try it again!

My 18 year old daughter took lessons from Surf HNL, and was able to stand up on the board during the one hour lesson. This is hard to do, and I credit the fine instructors. Bird was her main instructor, during this group lesson, but most of her hour turned into a private lesson with him. She was assisted by Babac, Malina, and Tiana, too. They were all professional, enthusiastic, and supportive. We couldn't have asked for a better crew. The location is perfect, because it's not crowded. You don't need to worry about crashing into other beginners, while trying to catch your waves. We recommend purchasing the photo package, too. The professional photography is far superior to any picture you'll take on your phone. They shoot the pictures from the beach, with a high powered lens, and they capture all of the action shots, clearly. 10/10 recommend!
