Designated by Congress as the official WWII museum of the United States, The National WWII Museum is located in downtown New Orleans on a six-acre campus, where five soaring pavilions house historical exhibits, on-site restoration work, a period dinner theater, and restaurants.

Beyond All Boundaries is a film depicting the battles of World War II. The film is shown in 4-D, and includes archive footage and special effects. Produced and narrated by Tom Hanks and is shown solely in The National World War II Museum, New Orleans.

The National WWII Museum

Solomon Victory Theater makes use of vibrating seats and atmospheric effects to enhance the viewing experience. In addition there are also moving props and scenery, lighting and sound effects and a multi-layered projection process. Time selected below is for your 4-D film. You may enter the Museum any time BEFORE your movie time to begin touring.

Had a limited amount of time on a rainy Monday before my flight home, so I decided to pay a visit. Bought what is called the best value package which included access to all of the exhibits, and the 2 experiences. The first experience, Beyond All Boundaries can only be described in 1 word, "moving". The second one was in a rotating theater, very well done. This museum is huge, and to see all of the exhibits and learn about everything requires allot of time (1 of the volunteers there said to see everything would require 2 days) which unfortunately I didn't have. I basically just walked thru what I believe was every room. I must come back to New Orleans again and allow myself more time (possibly a second day) to see and experience it all.

Well organized. Excellent museum. Lots of interesting artifacts. The guidebook needs to be better as it was confusing to locate some areas.

We went to New Orleans specifically for the WWII Museum. My husband loved it. I asked several people how much time to allow to see the museum in depth - most people told me 1 to 1 1/2 days. However, if you are someone who really enjoys WWII history, I would allow a full 2 days to see everything.
