We've helicoptered into the Grand Canyon, swum with dolphins in Florida, had dinner at the top of the Eiffel Tower, and a handful of other lifetime travel highlights (okay, we've never done an African safari, and lots of other things that would make our list if we did them). But to our personal list we add the Sunset Tiki Cruise.
Of course we have to give credit: the weather was excellent (which could be all the difference for a cruise like this), we saw a pod of dolphins close-up (it's not a dolphin cruise, but we came across them), and Capt. Sam (Samantha) - all combined to make this one of our all-time favorite things. It's limited to 6 passengers because it really IS a small Tiki-hut bar that floats and has a MercCruiser motor. It's BYOB - and if you take a Tiki cruise you HAVE to have the right stuff to suit your taste. They provide ice and Solo cups.
The high moment for us? Capt. Sam asked us to name "our song" and she played it on the boat's small but effective hi-fi speaker system. This was a hard-to-find tune, too, but she kept at it. We slow-danced while one of the other passengers - a sweet young woman who said she had fun doing it - recorded our moment on video. We came back with tons of photos, some first-rate memories, and a feeling that if we return, we'll definitely do this again. And ask for Capt. Sam.
