Right after the conclusion of the holidays, my boyfriend and I took the evening walking tour with Ephraim. We chose his tour because it had overwhelmingly positive reviews, it was "off the beaten path" (not the same tour stops as most of the others) and close to our B&B in the oldest part of the historic area. It was a perfect evening weather-wise, and as it turned out, we were his only two guests - a private tour! True to the reviews of others, Ephraim was a wealth of St. Augustine history and great ghost/haunting stories. We stopped at both private homes and businesses along the way, and the quiet, balmy evening lent itself to the proper atmosphere of a ghost tour.
I decided to snap cell-phone pictures at most of the stops, and the photo posted here was one of several I took at the Kirby-Smith house. I didn't look at the pictures until later in the evening. Right away I noticed the dark figure in the lower left quadrant. Creepy! I sent it to Ephraim, who suspected it was a paranormal anomaly of some kind. He confirmed his suspicions with other tour guides - I'd caught a shadow figure!
So, if you're a lover of ghost tours - or are skeptical of them - take this tour! You won't be disappointed. It's a great value, and Ephraim is the perfect host - gracious, entertaining, but not kitschy - and a wonderful source of historical St. Augustine history. He'll not only regale you with ghost stories, but show you photographic evidence!
Thanks, Ephraim, for a fantastic time!
