You can see orcas and more while saving some money. San Juan safari has a friendly crew which makes a fun day. They work with all of the other whale watching ships so we saw minke and orcas. The companies take turns viewing the resident pods, so as a guide book wrote, you will see the same orcas no matter which reputable company you pick. The orca happened to swim under our boat and breach right next to the ship! Fun day.

Helpful staff at reservations desk. Excellent crew including naturalists Katie and Olivia. Left from Friday Harbor on afternoon tour unfortunately did not see any orcas but we did see seals, bald eagles and one humpback. It was a clear, rain free afternoon, nice way to spend a few hours. The tour boat has seating inside with snacks, coffee, hot chocolate and even beer and wine. Can also sit along outer deck or on second level.

Our captain got word of a couple of whales north of us he got us to the whale pretty quickly. This whale actually turned south and we were able to spend some significant time. It was an amazing experience. We also saw sea lions, Harbor seals, bald eagles, and Harbor porpoise. The crew and the boat were great.
