This tour is an excellent value. Our driver and guide was Boston Joe and he was very knowledgeable about the area and told us stories about the gold rush days and threw in personal anecdotes. It was as if a fun relative was giving you a tour. He is the best! He even took photos for people and read us one of his poems. I wish I had a copy of his poem Raven Knows. There were stops at the old cemetery, Liarsville, the summit and a bathroom break just beyond the summit where we turned around. Also stops just above Skagway for a nice view of the town, and others for picture taking and breath-taking views. Bathrooms and a gift shop are also available at Liarsville. Panning for gold was an activity you could have at Liarsville for I think 5 extra when you made the reservations.
This was an educating and interesting excursion. It wasn't as remarkable or memorable as the other excursions I took, but it was historical and informative. It also rained that day and we got soaked, so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it as much as the others.
Jack was a great guide. He spotted a bear alongside the road and helped us get a viewing!
