We took Mild and Wild's new combo train/raft trip and it made for a fabulous day! Took the Durango Silverton steam train in the morning and then shuttled back to Durango to take a 1.5-2 hr whitewater raft trip on the lower Animas. Our family of 5 included my wife and me and our three 19, 17 and 14 year olds. Read all of the reviews about the train separately. Our experience affirms the posts...views are spectacular, soot is real and sit in a gondola or glass car facing east (station side in Durango). Both sides have great river and mountain views, but our side had more gorge and river side views. We purchased a combo ticket that took us from Silverton and back vis a Mild and Wild shuttle. We had left our car at the train lot near McDonalds. M&W will take you back to your car at the end of the day. Mild and Wild has lockers you can rent for 5$ which we did. They are like school sized lockers so we changed after train and into our swimsuits plus a layer or two. Our weather was perfect. We rented boots but decided against wet suits. Our day was 80F and despite chance of showers we went without wet suit. We were happy we didn't get suits, but if it had been 55 we would've wished we had them! Mild to Wild is top notch. Our guides Robin and Molly gave us a great afternoon of rafting. Everyone working with customers at the company is very customer focused and chill. And everything is totally organized and coordinated for a great day. The ride on the lower Animas was great for new rafters. The first 20 min didn't require any paddling. After that we had off and on regions of paddling. The one stretch of class 3 is worth the price of admission! After the rapids, the last 30 min requires some work, but not a ton. Have fun and we recommend you ask foe Robin as your guide! Enjoy!

Thanks for reviewing our Rails and Raft package and Robin. Robin also guides some of intermediate rivers so step up the adventure and request Robin again! Thanks for your time in sharing your thoughts about Mild to Wild. We truly appreciate it.

We visited Durango for several days and really enjoyed our trip. There are so many things to do and see but the rafting tour with Mild to Wild was the highlight of the vacation. Our guide Jessie made this rafting trip so very memorable and special. This young man has a wonderful personality and we will return soon to take the jeep tour with him. This time we will bring the entire family. When you are in Durango go rafting with Mild to Wild and be sure to request JESSIE as your guide.

My family and I went to Durango Co. for the first time on August 17 & 18, 2015 and it will definitely not be the last time. The area is so beautiful and so much to do. Since we were on a road trip we only had 1 1/2 days there. We went on a Wet & Wild Jeep Tour to Plata Canyon in the morning with our guild Miles, who was very nice. The scenery was beautiful. We saw a little waterfall, beautiful wild flowers and an amazing view. We had a combo tour that included a rafting tour in the afternoon. I was hesitant about going with the news coverage on the recent spill, but was reassured it was safe. I'm so glad we went river rafting -it was a true highlight of our 12 day road trip. Abbey was our awesome guild-she was friendly, outgoing, athletic and was a master at maneuvering thru the rocks!! She went over all the safety procedures and made me feel comfortable about this water adventure. My husband and I saw deer, river otter, birds and an amazing scenery!!! We even did a little "river surfing" at one point..lol. The time went by fast because there was so much to see. I will definitely do the rafting again on our next trip. I want to thank Abbey and wish her a good time on he upcoming road trip. :) Thank you to the friendly staff at Wet and Wild!

Glad you loved the late season Rivers n' Trails trip. Different times of the season offer very unique experiences, but you will always get our same friendly and competent staff! So...see you in the spring!
