What To Expect

St. Helena's Anglican Church

Our guest will here the role the church played in Beaufort's History from its founding in 1712, they will see the grave yard from the carriage and hear about some of Beaufort's founding fathers, & soldiers who gave there all who are buried there.

Our tour will meander on the backstreets of Old Beaufort's Historic District and pass by century old live oak trees draped in spanish moss, Antebellum & Victorian Houses and Churches, Beautiful Gardens all from the comfort of our beautiful Blue Carriages pulled by our Gentle Giants. Relax and enjoy the clippity clop of the horses feet while your guide shares Beaufort's 300+ years of history, folklore, legends & Hollywood movie tales. From the early Colonial settlements, American Revolution, Plantation life of the Antebellum South, Civil War, Reconstruction Period, the 20th century through today Beaufortonians have always been involved in every major period of American History.

The Point

The tour meanders slowly through this neighborhood under the branches of the beautiful old live oak trees draped in Spanish Moss. Most of the Antebellum & Victorian Houses & lovely little cottages are located in the Old Point Neighborhood of Beaufort.

We were super entertained by our Tour Guide (sorry, we don't recall her name, but she definitely had a dramatic flair), our horse Bandit and his fear of little water puddles and the Beaufort homes and history.

A beautiful day in Beaufort and a nice way to gain 45 minutes of historical perspective in seeing a lot of beautiful homes, churches, inns/b&b’s in a beautiful Southern setting! Tyler was our guide and she was relatively new yet personable and a good story teller. A tip for her would be to not look at Apple Watch as much and keep perspective on the audience. The other star of the show was Phillipe, a Belgian and beautiful horse. He was a tad ornery maybe but they were a great tandem. Thank you both! Enjoy Southurn Rose Carriage rides as a nice way to experience the wonderful Beaufort SC!

Learning about Robert Smalls and his impressive life. Our tour guide, Anastasia, was very knowledgeable about Beaufort history. I had no idea Beaufort had such a rich history.
