What To Expect

St. Helena's Anglican Church

Our guest will here the role the church played in Beaufort's History from its founding in 1712, they will see the grave yard from the carriage and hear about some of Beaufort's founding fathers, & soldiers who gave there all who are buried there.

Our tour will meander on the backstreets of Old Beaufort's Historic District and pass by century old live oak trees draped in spanish moss, Antebellum & Victorian Houses and Churches, Beautiful Gardens all from the comfort of our beautiful Blue Carriages pulled by our Gentle Giants. Relax and enjoy the clippity clop of the horses feet while your guide shares Beaufort's 300+ years of history, folklore, legends & Hollywood movie tales. From the early Colonial settlements, American Revolution, Plantation life of the Antebellum South, Civil War, Reconstruction Period, the 20th century through today Beaufortonians have always been involved in every major period of American History.

The Point

The tour meanders slowly through this neighborhood under the branches of the beautiful old live oak trees draped in Spanish Moss. Most of the Antebellum & Victorian Houses & lovely little cottages are located in the Old Point Neighborhood of Beaufort.

We had a great time in the carriage tour! It was the first thing we did in Beaufort and it gave us a great look at all the sights. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining! We highly recommend it!

My daughter, granddaughter and I took this carriage tour while we were in Beaufort. Our driver, Anastasia, was delightful. Friendly, knowledgeable, great with customers of all ages. So much history here in this town and we got to hear a lot of it. This is actually my third tour here but I’m always picking up new bits of information. It’s a great place to bring visitors. Even our four-year-old was interested, but it might’ve been because we were being pulled by a huge Belgian horse named Philippe. The hour long tour traveled among some homes as old as 1700’s. The gardens were amazing and some of the trees are as old as the houses! A great way to learn about the area and I highly recommend it.

We did this tour during Covid-19 and felt completely safe. They Disinfected everything including the stairs to get on the carriage. They also had plastic separating the seats but you can hear, and oddly it creates a nice breeze. It was so much fun. Our tour guide was Anastasia and she was fantastic. She had a lot of energy and was a great storyteller. Definitely recommend this.
