What To Expect

St. Helena's Anglican Church

Our guest will here the role the church played in Beaufort's History from its founding in 1712, they will see the grave yard from the carriage and hear about some of Beaufort's founding fathers, & soldiers who gave there all who are buried there.

Our tour will meander on the backstreets of Old Beaufort's Historic District and pass by century old live oak trees draped in spanish moss, Antebellum & Victorian Houses and Churches, Beautiful Gardens all from the comfort of our beautiful Blue Carriages pulled by our Gentle Giants. Relax and enjoy the clippity clop of the horses feet while your guide shares Beaufort's 300+ years of history, folklore, legends & Hollywood movie tales. From the early Colonial settlements, American Revolution, Plantation life of the Antebellum South, Civil War, Reconstruction Period, the 20th century through today Beaufortonians have always been involved in every major period of American History.

The Point

The tour meanders slowly through this neighborhood under the branches of the beautiful old live oak trees draped in Spanish Moss. Most of the Antebellum & Victorian Houses & lovely little cottages are located in the Old Point Neighborhood of Beaufort.

The tour was great. I went with my husband. He even enjoyed the tour. We were pulled in a carriage by one of the largest horses I've ever seen that wasn't a Clydesdale, a Percheron by the name of Maximus. He was very friendly (we were early so I got to pet him) and well taken care of before and after he pulled the carriage of 16 people plus the two tour guides who described themselves as the girls who talk a lot. We passed beautiful old homes and tree lined streets and interesting historical and movie landmarks which were explained to us as we went along. I actually learned quite a bit during the tour. Beaufort is a lovely and picturesque little town and this is a wonderful way to see more of it.

Very interesting tour by Anastasia and Blaze. She loves her city and shared a lot to give the background of the area. We learned a lot in the hour. The guide was animated and kept your interest. She even had a little entertainment for the small children on board! I would recommend this tour.

I started my stay in Beaufort with a horse drawn carriage tour. It was a great introduction to the town and its history. My guide was engaging. She drove past many key sites and explained their importance, plus gave personal glimpses to her own life. In an hour, we saw much variety. The tour piqued my interest to go back to several places later on my own. The price is very reasonable.
