What To Expect

Crystal River

You’ve come all the way to Florida, so it makes sense to actually see as much of it as possible, and no other tour provides such a wide-ranging, in-depth experience as this tour. This action-packed day starts with a full overview of your day as you head out to the beautiful Crystal River area on the Gulf coast, 80 miles north-west of Orlando. This is the Manatee Capital of the World, and the only place in America where it is legal to swim with manatees, in their natural habitat. It's also home to stunning natural springs and loads of wildlife. You’ll meet an essential part of it as you gear up for the signature Manatee Snorkel under the supervision of a Coast Guard Certified Captain*. You will learn all about the unique West Indian manatee – and then get to see some of them, up close and personal in the crystal-clear waters! * NB: any person wishing to do the manatee swim must hire a wetsuit prior to boat departure. Snorkel equipment is provided free.

Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park

You'll then head off to 210-acre Homosassa Springs State Park, a genuine hidden gem of Florida nature, where there is plenty of local wildlife to see and hear about, including the endangered Florida panther, black bears, red wolves, bobcats and alligators, as well as a profusion of birdlife, notably whooping cranes and flamingos. Also here is the unique sight of Nature’s Fish Bowl, an underwater observatory built over the mouth of the main spring where a huge number of fish hang out, while the Park has its own manatee rehabilitation program to provide another exciting glimpse of these rare sea mammals. Lunch is included here.

Brad was our tour guide and he was great. Friendly, approachable and he was very knowledgable about the different wildlife we saw. My favourite part was swimming with the manatees. We got lucky because there was a recent cold front, which is likely why we saw so many of these gentle giants in the water (I didn't know how important weather was to seeing the manatees!) Though spotty, there was free Wi-Fi in the van. The one improvement I would suggest is for the confirmation email, and reminder email, to include what to bring to each attraction. For example, It's highly recommended to bring: -A change of clothes and towel (as well as a warm sweater) when boarding the boat to swim with the manatees -Sunglasses, long sleeves, and a hair tie for long hair for the airboat ride Overall, a very memorable experience that I'd happily recommend to any who visit Orlando/Florida!

Brad was a wonderful tour guide, gave us a very detailed walkthrough of the itinerary upon boarding the van. The ride was comfortable while getting to enjoy a movie on board. We arrived at the attractions on time with some time to spare. Swimming with the Manatees was a very fun experience, got to have around 15 close encounters with Manatees. The airboat ride was also adventurous. The captain did a good job with showing us around the everglades. Highly recommend!

The whole day trip is really fun, especially the manatee adventure is the highlight of the day! Saw a lot of manatees! The crew took really great pictures and friendly as well. Will definitely recommend for people who wants to explore Orlando outside the usual theme parks.
