What To Expect

The 1692 Salem Historical Day Tour will meet at the Hermetic Arts Center at 272 Essex St. Your Guide will check you in, and the tour will start at the corner of Essex and Sewell St. From there, you will continue down Essex St. to the Witch House. As you walk through Salem to visit each historical site, you will hear a jaw-dropping story covering Salem's history before the trials, what caused the witch hysteria, who were the Judges and Accusers, how residents responded to the accusations, who were the 20 victims, and how the trials came to an end. This is the tour you want if you care about historical accuracy! Jeff is an amazing guide. His passion for the actual history and truth is evident. I was beyond impressed and can’t wait to continue learning more on my own.

Unlike a lot of the tours, which try to focus on the "flash" and the spectacle of the witch trials, Jeff does his best to remain rooted in fact - because the events surrounding the trials were horrible enough without needing to be dressed up. Jeff is extremely experienced, having developed and worked with the Bewitched After Dark Tours for 10 years before breaking away to do his own thing. He's a Salem local, having been raised here, so Jeff carries a unique perspective of Salem, having watched the tourism aspect take off over the years. He's also a history geek, with an obsession with the witch trials. He'll do his best to break down what happened, and be sure to tell you when he's speaking his opinion rather than fact. Overall, an excellent tour for anyone who wants to learn more about the witch trials from someone who's passionate about the subject.
