I was nervous about doing a segway tour, as I'd never ridden one but I absolutely LOVED it. I travel a lot for business and this is by far, the best way to see a city. The guides trained us extremely well before we left on how to ride and stop on the segway, so we all felt very safe by the time we got going. And the ages in my group ranged from pre-teens to well into the 60s (if not older), and everyone was able to keep up and stay safe (and upright).. The fantastic thing about touring by segway is that you avoid the stuffiness of tour buses (and having to drive by places because there's no place for them to pull over or stop) and you are not nearly as exhausted on a segway as when you're doing a walking tour. It's also better than a bike tour because the segway is not as clunky as a bike and takes up a 1/2 of the room when you're traveling or just stopping on the sidewalk to take in a site. You can cover TONS more ground on the segway with a fraction of the physical exertion as well as being in the fresh air and being able to stop on a dime "as if" you are walking. We were able to cover the ins and outs of downtown, local campuses, pubs, theatres, restaurants, historic buildings, plus some scenic "rides" through some parks and upscale neighborhoods, and even venture outside the downtown proper into some outside neighborhoods. Our tour guide was very personable and knowledgable and also took great care to make sure that everyone in our group was safe and happy. I absolutely will look for a segway tour first the next time I am in a new city. It's a perfect way to orient yourself at the top of a trip so you can return to select places that interest you later, on your own. It's also perfect if you're traveling with a family or group where there are varying ages and physical ability. If everyone is over 100 lbs, it doesn't matter how old they are....everyone can go at the same pace with minimal effort. I'm a frequent and experienced traveler and I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

I always wanted to ride a Segway and were planning to do it next week in London. Unfortunately my husbands back problem kept him from riding. I went with a friend from out of town and after a short training session with our guide John, we were ready to go. ( I live in a suburb south of Atlanta). After about 15 min I got really comfortable riding and felt pretty natural doing it. I mostly went to try to ride the Segway, the commentary from John was ok, I personally would have preferred to ride more. He did however do a great job. After 2 1/2 hours, we all were ready to get off and walk. The reason I only gave 4 starts is, I was disappointed that we were not allowed to ride in Centennial and Piedmont Park. I’m 64 and my two friends are between 50 and 60 years old. I would recommend Atlanta Segway your to anyone who likes to try something new.
