Our guide, Austin, was a wealth of information from the minute we got in his van. From talking about the recent landslide to discussing the vegetation in the rainforest to the tribal information at the totem pole park -- nothing went uncovered. He answered questions thoroughly and factually. Very knowledgeable.

We went on the hike and totem pole excursion a week ago, and I highly recommend the experience. Is it earth-shattering? No. Is it interesting, informative and entertaining, absolutely. What made the tour for my wife and I was our tour guide, Zach. We were a bit concerned about him at first because when he picked us up at the dock, clearly he’d just jumped out of bed and probably overslept, but at least he got there on time. What we most enjoyed was his passion for nature and history and the importance of maintaining both for future generations. As we walked through the forest we didn’t go far before Zach noticed something, stopped us, and taught us something fascinating. The highlight of the hike was when he literally got on all fours and inserted himself into a mound of dirt, much like a hibernating bear. He came out of there an absolute mess, but he didn’t care. He gave us something to remember. Later, when we visited the totem pole park, Zach literally walked to the edge of the lake, and we were all looking at each other like he was nuts. What does he do? He walked back to us having located five sea creatures! It was the most hilarious thing I’d ever seen. If you go on this tour, ask for Zach. He’s well worth the experience.
