My family and I have visited Charleston at least half a dozen times over the years, but we had never taken a formal tour. The Historic Downtown tour with Jim provided a phenomenal inside look at the city's history and structure. For $20, the value is unbeatable. We started a City Hall and worked our way down to the Battery, learning tidbits of history about early settlers, notable individuals, and architecture along the way. I would especially recommend this tour for anyone with an interest in architecture and real estate, as we got a thorough explanation of rebuilding after the 1888 earthquake and the historical restoration efforts on Rainbow Row. We also asked to add a family member at the last minute, and the tour company was extremely gracious in making room even though the tour was technically sold out. Very much appreciated

We had less than 24 hours to spend in Charleston and are so glad we took this tour! Evans' intimate knowledge of Charleston's history, & plants - which was extra cool since central Calif. is in the same planting zone, was incredible! We've taken the horse carriage tour (also highly recommend), but walking meant we could really see the details & peek into gorgeous yards ;)
