Not only will you be introduced to the great birding and wildlife in the area by your naturalists guide, you will also learn about the eco-systems, it rich heritage and long history.
Our tours are never "canned", so each tour is different. The area's wildlife move around in order to exist in their world and so must we. Many species are seasonal and inhabit different areas in different environmental conditions, so too, we must be able to adapt. Bring your cameras, binoculars, snacks, favorite drinks, hats, sunglasses and have a great time!!

What To Expect

TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS NWR

In comfortable captain's style seating an, you will be safely brought deep into the 10,000 Islands Wildlife Refuge for an interpretive tour of the area led by a Florida Master Naturalist. Depending on the season, you can expect to encounter manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, rosette spoonbills, as well as, numerous species of fish and shore birds as well as the opportunity to find amazing shells.

Our captain and co-captain were fabulous! They were very knowledgeable, and did everything they could to make our experience memorable, fun and educational and really cared about the animals and environment! We got to spend time watching a large shark swimming on a sand bar, dolphins having fun and newly-hatched water birds in their nest. We found wonderful shells, starfish, egg casings, and sand dollars to bring home (although we did not see any of the huge shells pictured on the website.). Our 5 and 9-year old grandchildren had a blast and loved every minute of the 2-hour adventure. The only downside ( STRESSFUL!) was arriving early only to find there was no parking and the marina staff would not let us wait for ones to open up; we had to call the phone number on the website, leave the marina, and, when we returned, were eventually led to an off-site parking. This situation should be explained beforehand; the rest of the day was beyond perfect!

The captain and mate are great. Very careful about the safety of the passengers. The mate is a font of information about shells and animals and a really nice person. The captain is an expert boart handler and knows the marine animals extremely well. He knew what the dolphins were thinking and what they wanted. It was a thoroughly delightful experience especially with the dolphines jumping in the wake of the boat.

Capt. JOYCE and Whitney are awesome! Knowledgeable and funny Great tour for families with kids of all ages. Not too large of a group Educational and fun! She even got the dolphins to ride the boats wake and jump from the water along side of us!
