The bus tour of the battleground was very good mainly because of the expertise of our guide. She was knowledgeable and completely versed in all the aspects of the 3 day battle at Gettysburg.

I took this tour while in Gettysburg recently. I was amazed at the history that is hidden in plain sight in Gettysburg that I would have missed without taking the tour. I felt the tour was a nice length with plenty of time to see an overview but spend enough time at different sites that I felt like I understood what had happened and when. Feet on the ground, I got to see the areas where the battles took place and appreciated the wealth of information from the tour leader. Strangely, the Eternal Light Peace Memorial had gone flameless a few days before our visit. This had not happened naturally before. I'm hopeful to hear that it has relit. It's humbling to see the small town and surrounding area where so much bloodshed occurred. The local stories shared in history will definitely interest you.

The tour was outstanding due in large part to our guide Gar (yes, that was his name) who was extremely knowledgeable about the three day battle. Provided great insights as well as many interesting asides about certain combatants. Learned much more from Gar than the film shown at the visitors center. Highly recommend. After the tour we took our own tour of the battlefield to stop and see more of the monuments. If you are into history at all, Gettysburg is a great place to spend a couple of days.
