Highly recommended. Our boys (14 and 21) had a great time, as it was the first time on Segways for either of them, as well as my wife. Just the four of us and the guide on the tour, so it turned into a private tour. The guide gave a very good orientation and practice time to the kids, who were nervous at first, but by the end didn't want to get off the machines. We took a leisurely tour of the Montford neighborhood and Riverside Cemetery (where Thomas Wolfe and O. Henry are buried), then went through Montford Park and the paved path along Reed Creek. We eventually circled back to downtown, passing by the Grove Arcade, up Wall Street, down Church St. and backup Biltmore Ave., rested in Pack Square where a bluegrass band was playing, then finally returned to the starting point at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce building. The kids thought it was the highlight of the Asheville trip - better than the zip lines or Biltmore. Tip: I'd recommend booking the last tour of the day, and making it the first thing you do when you arrive in town, as it's a great way to get oriented to the city.

We just did this today, and it was fabulous! Wes is a great guide and told us that the groups are kept to a minimum so everyone can be trained properly and attended to. We had a terrific time and really enjoyed the other people on our tour. We are 67 and 58 and this was our first experience riding Segways. We found it easy to grasp and were on our way, feeling very confident after the 20 minute training Wes provided. This is not just an activity for younger people - we would recommend putting this on top of your list as a must do in Asheville!

We actually did this tour back in early March and were lucky enough to have an unseasonably warm and sunny day to experience our first day in Asheville. We got into town in the late morning and really wanted to do the tour that first afternoon that we were in town since we had plans for the rest of the weekend. Since we were in town in the off-season, Wes was nice enough to work with us and personalize a tour time of 3:00 (especially nice since it wrapped up just before sunset). Wes was an awesome tour guide - he asked what sort of things we liked to do, what sort of food and drink we liked, and kind of personalized our tour accordingly (it helped that he's around our age, and seems to like many of the same things we do!) Having done a Segway tour in Savannah six months earlier, we picked up the art of riding again pretty quickly, which left time for seeing more of the gorgeous neighborhoods surrounding the area, which was nice. I'd highly recommend not only doing the tour, but doing it as early in your trip as possible - it helps immensely in familiarizing yourself with the city, and also to actually experience your guide's restaurant and activity recommendations. We ate at at least three of his recommended restaurants over our four days in town, and they were all wonderful. Definitely recommend the tour!
