2-Hour Guided Segway Tour of Huntington Beach State Park in Myrtle Beach

Overview
Come and join us for a 2-Hour Guided Segway Tour at one of the Grand Strand’s most beautiful wetland and wildlife preserves, Huntington Beach State Park in Myrtle Beach. Nature lovers will enjoy the park’s Environmental Education Center for the chance to see Loggerhead Turtles and other endangered wildlife species up close. The park’s freshwater lake along the causeway is a sure-fire place to see Alligators basking in the sun, a variety of bird species, and maybe even a mink or two.

Known for its natural beauty, Huntington Beach State Park was the former winter home of Anna Hyatt and Archer Huntington, sculptress and philanthropist, who left the park and adjacent Brookgreen Gardens as their legacy. Make sure to leave enough time in your day to also visit Atalaya, the picturesque, Moorish-style castle which was their residence and sculpting studios. This tour is around two hours in length with training. Still plenty of time to enjoy the beach and relax before or after your tour.

My friend and I paid for a 1 hour rental. As our first experience with Segway, we wanted a short, pleasant way to see what it's about. In short, it was a fun, interesting way to get around. The service and coaching was excellent as well as important for answering our questions. After our coaching session and a short intro while standing on our Segways, we were on our way, gaining confidence quickly. By the end of our hour, we found riding a Segway old hat. That, in turn, means we now have an option in our back pockets when we travel to places like Savannah - bike tour?; walking tour?; Segway tour? - who knows; we just like having fun options. Naturally, we talked about Segways no longer being produced. End of an era. But, at Myrtle Beach Segway, it will continue indefinitely. The gentleman we spoke knows enough about maintenance to keep them running for a long time. The Market Common area is a nice area to try these out.

Mike was our tour guide and he was great. It started raining just as we were scheduled to start so we allowed it to pass over and he gave everyone ponchos. He made sure we got our complete tour in. We got the grand tour of the park and saw alligators and many kinds of birds. He made sure we all were trained and felt comfortable on the Segway machines and kept us safe during our tour. It was a great time.

Mike is a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area, sharing lots of info we’ve never known, despite visiting the state park numerous times before. He was also very patient with our group of five, including four of us who have never used segways before. Thank you for making it a wonderful first time experience, Mike! The only reason I gave a 4/5 rating was the cost. While we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, dropping $300+ for 2 hours of fun is not something we can do on any regular basis. Please consider that, along with the fact that so many people are unemployed or have uncertain employment futures, when pricing the tours. Thanks for the special time!
