We like to take Segway tours when visiting a new city, so we have taken quite a few.
Magic Carpet with Colin may have been the BEST we've ever experienced. As a St Petersburg native, Colin was extremely knowledgeable about his city. We learned so much and saw so much. He was a delight!
But here's the thing you MUST know:
Magic Carpet is a small operation. In fact, it does not have a storefront, so if you go to 1 Beach Drive, arrive early, and walk around the building (which takes up a whole city block, you are going to wonder if you've been scammed.
It turns out that the Segways are stored in Courigan's Irish Pub which occupies the SW corner of the building. Your guide will be waiting for you outside . . . unless you show up a half hour early like we did. We almost gave up, when we decided to go into Courigan's. The bartender told us what was happening.
So this definitely isn't the kind of Segway operation we have booked in other cities. It is definitely low budget. However, I would go there again in a minute. The segway was in good repair, the helmets were new, and the training was as expected. And as I mentioned previously, we couldn't have had a better tour.
