This was a our first rafting trip as a family. Our girls (8 & 11) were excited to get on the river, but we also wanted to make sure we floated a river that wasn't too dangerous or extreme for them. We found a great match with Wild West and our cool guide Boone.
The staff got everyone outfitted beforehand. They let you use booties, wet suits and splash jackets if needed and they supply life jackets. They also did a good job explaining the trip and laying out the expectations and safety rules.
We had a blast on the water. Our guide, Boone, steered us into the best currents and made sure everyone abroad was having a good time. Our boat was half children 8-15 yrs and he did wonderful job incorporating them and making it fun. We not only paddled, but played some rafting games and splashed our companions.
The rapids were just right for our kids' first adventure. I imagine they were class II & III at the most. This probably wouldn't be the trip for someone looking for more serious rapids, but it is a nice float with good scenery.
The Wild West shop has ice cream and some food like burgers and has a place to change clothes.
The price was quite reasonable and much cheaper than rafting options we looked at in Jackson, WY.
We called two days in advance to get our reservations on July 4th and didn't have a problem.
