Our private tour was amazing. Our tour guide was an amazing gentleman who had great knowledge of DC. He took us where we wanted to go and to stay as long as we wanted. Private is the only way to go.

We took this tour with four adults last Friday night. Dexter was wonderful. He was knowledgeable, prompt, accomodating and friendly. He picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Alexandria, which was a bit of a drive from DC. All the other tours I looked at only picked up at DC area hotels, not at hotels in outlying cities. We had all been to DC several times before, yet Dexter took us to some monuments that we didn't even know existed. He then let us customize our tour and took us to whichever sites in DC we wanted to see and stop whenever we wanted to take a picture. I would highly recommend this tour, seeing DC at night was beautiful and Dexter was great!
