  • What is a CDW?
  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional form of insurance similar to rental car insurance that limits your liability in case of accident. It is non-refundable. If you opt to purchase the CDW your deposit for rented a GoCar is only USD$150.00 instead of USD$400.00
  • GoCarā€™s hold a maximum of 2 people. Prices are per GoCar - not per person.
  • Can you cross the Golden Gate Bridge?
  • No, but the tour will navigate you to Fort Point. Here the bridge soars about 200-feet above your head. It is possible to gain pedestrian access to the bridge span from the car park at the bridge vantage point.
  • All renters must be able to read, understand and sign a liability release and waiver form (standard participant agreement)
  • Yes, you set your own pace. The car always knows where you are and you can park anywhere you want (motorcycle parking or car parking) for as long as you want, and as soon as you start to drive again, the car will begin to talk!
  • Do you have to stay on the tour?
  • Are controlled with a motorcycle-style handle, throttle, and hand brakes. The 3-wheeled cars seat two and have a lockable trunk for your things. Their small size makes parking a breeze, and in San Francisco - a major bonus!
  • Pickup location must be chosen at time of booking. This is the location where your GoCar will be reserved
  • On the day of rental, a $500 security deposit will be held on the customerā€™s credit card. If a CDW or SLI insurance plan is selected, a $150 security deposit will be held. The security deposit is released when the GoCar is returned.
  • Vehicles:
  • For the safety and comfort of passengers the maximum height is 6'4" (1.9m) and maximum combined weight of 500 lbs (226.8 kg) for two passengers
  • Passengers must be 4 years of age or older - and small children must safely fit into one of our DOT approved helmets. The GoCar is registered as a motorcycle - but a motorcycle license is not required to operate the vehicle.
  • Foreign language options are available in French, Spanish, Italian and German
  • Up to 35-mph. Note that drivers in San Francisco do not typically drive fast, therefore an average speed of 30-mph or less can be expected while driving.
  • Absolutely not! If there is a San Francisco sight you wish to see but is not yet included on the tour, just use the map provided to navigate your own way through the city streets. You can even put a CD in the stereo and enjoy music along the way!
  • How fast does the car go?
  • Can you stop along the way?
  • Driver must be 21 years or older to rent and must provide a major credit card and valid driverā€™s license at the time of check-in. A driverā€™s license must be in the customerā€™s physical possession (no photocopy). For foreign customerā€™s, an international license is not necessary.

We had a great time touring around in the car. We did the three hour tour knowing we would keep it over and pay extra to be able to do stops. If you prepare yourself for this, perhaps you save yourself some frustrations. We had a lot of laughs and no issue following the directions provided by the GPS.

We booked the three hour Golden Gate Tour and arrived 15 min early as requested. When we arrived at 12pm for a 12:15 tour, front door was blocked off with small sign that read ā€œUse other doorā€. We could see a long line of people coming through the back of the building so we went around the building and got in that line. The manager Jose was shockingly rude when he learned we already had a reservation. ā€œHow did you get in this line?! I put signs on the door! You need to go next door!ā€ It was so awful to be spoken to this way. So, we went to the building next door and checked in there to then be ushered back to the original long line we had joined. Jose at that point was outside, so I politely asked a female staff member of I could have the name of the man in the red shirt. Her response was a sharp, ā€œWHY??ā€ ā€” The rudeness of the staff, 45 minute check in process, no greeting, no warmth or inviting and fun atmosphere made us almost want to cancel and walk away. We took the tour and enjoyed it, except that there is no way on Earth you can complete the full ā€œ3 hourā€ tour if you follow their GPS. We didnā€™t even stop at all the spots on the tour, and with only 10 minutes left to get back on time, we still had dozens of more stops had we stayed with the GPS. So, we decided to follow our own GPS back and abandon the Go Cars GPS tour to try and avoid late fees. We got back just a few min late but were not charged.
