45 minute Highlights of the Garden District

Overview
This fast-paced tour is ideal if you are short on time and want to see as much of the city as possible, or if you have taken several longer tours and just wish to see the highlights of the Garden District. It's a fast-paced fun excursion through this unique and historic neighborhood. It is a very visual tour, with less focus on storytelling or history, but your guide will give you a brief rundown of the history and point out architectural elements. We cover all the most impressive homes in the Garden District and include a stop at Lafayette Cemetery #1. The cemetery is closed, but the gates are wide enough to see in and get some great pictures!

Garden District
Explore the elegant 19th Century mansions, lush subtropical gardens, and intricate ironwork of the famous tree-shaded and peaceful Garden District. This neighborhood has been the filming location of dozens of TV shows and movies (NCIS: New Orleans, American Horror Story, Double Jeopardy, Drake's In My Feelings. The Mayfair Witches, Your Honor, Django Unchained, and many more) and today is home to quite a few celebrities. On this 45 minute whirlwind tour, your guide will lead you to all the best locations in this historic district established after the Louisiana Purchase as New Orleans started to grow into its American identity.

Thank you so much for the review and recommendation! The area is beautiful, the opportunities for great photos are all over the place, but the stories really make it meaningful. I am so happy you enjoyed your time with us, and I hope you tour with us next time you were in New Orleans. Libby

Thank you! That was such a fun walk. The homes on First Street are stunning examples of the opulent 19th Century architecture of the Garden District, but also there are some great stories for sports fans and literary types ā€“ and I think you are both! Iā€™m so happy that you were able to squeeze in a tour with me during your work trip, and I hope you found some more time for enjoying New Orleans while you were here. Come run around French Quarter with me next time! Libby

Our tour guide Libby was an absolute library of New Orleans history. We were the only ones on the tour and she tailored it to our interests on the fly. Plus she was charming and dynamic. We did the short version because it was a rainy day and a last minute booking, but I would have gladly taken a longer tour. There were a lot of interesting stories to be had about the area. Totally different vibes from the French Quarter (and Libby told us why!), definitely worth the short Lyft or streetcar ride to check out the neighborhood and all the beautiful live oak trees.

Thank you for this fabulous review! It was a pleasure to walk around with the two of you, even in the rain! I agree that the Garden District is one component of a more complete understanding of what makes New Orleans so special, and Iā€™m glad that yā€™all took the trip up town to walk with me. The 45 minute tours are offered mainly for people who donā€™t think they can handle a two hour tour, but in our experience most people find themselves wanting more at the end of the short tours. Then, weā€™ve known weā€™ve done a great job! Thank you so much for taking the time to help us out with this wonderful review. See yā€™all next time! Libby
