Overview

A local, permitted guide will show you all of the highlights of Acadia National Park plus the famous fjord Somes Sound, the Asticou Gardens and go to an authentic lobster pound (where lobstermen bring their daily catch) for lunch!

We will pick you up and we’ll drive along the stunning 27-mile long Park Loop Road up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. From Cadillac summit you can see spectacular views of Bar Harbor and the surrounding islands.

See all of the famous sites on the Park Loop Road, including summit of Cadillac Mountain, Rockefeller’s stone bridges, Otter Cliffs, Thunder Hole, and Sieur du Monts Gardens and Nature Center.

We will continue on to see the summer colonies of the rich and famous. Drive along the fjord, Somes Sound. Finish in Southwest Harbor to have lunch at an authentic lobster pound while looking over Great Harbor Marina.

We can stop and stay as long as you would like at each location. We will point out trailheads and carriage roads to explore on your own.

Cadillac Mountain

Enjoy 360 degree views of Mount Desert Island from atop the summit of Cadillac Mountain. See your cruise ship in the harbor!

Eagle Lake

See deep glacial lakes formed as the glaciers tore across Mount Desert Island.

Sand Beach

Somes Sound

Somes Sound is a fjard, a body of water running deep into Mount Desert Island, the main site of Acadia National Park in Maine, United States. Its deepest point is approximately 175 feet, and it is over 100 feet deep in several places. The sound almost splits the island in two.

Southwest Harbor

See the fishing community of Southwest Harbor on the panoramic Great Harbor. Stop at an authentic lobster pound and see the working lobster business. **Lunch is on your own. A full menu is available.

Seawall Pond

Many of Maine's beaches are covered with cobblestones, but this coastline is unique. Powerful ocean storms created a massive seawall. As waves break, they carry rocks from the base of the beach and carry them up to shore. As the tides come in and out, heavier stones get piled at the top and smaller, lighter stones remain down the slope.

Bar Harbor

All of our tours start and end by going through the historic corridors of Bar Harbor.

My wife and I were celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary and took the 6 hr private tour. Bill, a native of Bar Harbor, picked us up at the Elmhurst Inn and proceeded to provide us with an all encompassing visit to Mt Desert Island and Bar Harbor. We had the most enjoyable day with Bill as our guide and narrator. He not only took us to the must see locations, but provided a great narrative of the history of the island and those celebrities living in their "Summer Getaways" as well. I can't thank Bill enough for a great tour. We would do this again in a heart beat!!

Our tour guide Sarah was perfect for our group of 13. She took us everywhere we wanted to go and everywhere we didn’t know we wanted to go. We had a beautiful weather day and had great view from Cadillac Mtn, Thunder Hole was awesome. Sarah took us to Beal’s for a lobster lunch and we were lucky enough to see a lobster boat come in and the lobstermen were great to talk to. Thank you Sarah.
