90-minute Ghost Walking Tour in Bar Harbor

Overview
On our ghost walk, you'll travel the sea-sprayed Shore Path, where you might catch a glimpse of a ghost or even a sea serpent. You'll learn the history behind a variety of mysterious local incidents and expand your knowledge of the supernatural with accounts of the three major types of ghosts: residual manifestations, intelligent hauntings, and poltergeists. The weird tales include the strange goings-on at otherwise opulent lodgings like the Balance Rock Inn, the legendary Bar Harbor Club, and several other paranormal hotspots about town.

Marcus LiBrizzi, author of Ghosts of Acadia and Haunted Islands in the Gulf of Maine, two of the authoritative books on Maine's haunted tales, calls our tour "an unforgettable, spine-tingling tour of Bar Harbor’s haunted sites." Join us to discover for yourself.

What To Expect
1
Agamont Park
Begin at the beginning with tales from the indigenous peoples who once called the area home. Some ancient monster sightings from the Wabanaki Confederacy's oral tradition curiously align with more contemporary accounts of encounters with unknown animals.
2
Shore Path
Ghost stories abound along this scenic walkway as well as spectacular views of famous landmarks including the Egg Rock Lighthouse and Balance Rock. It's also the perfect setting for spooky seafaring yarns, tales of Maine's haunted lighthouses, and reports of a local sea serpent.
3
Criterion Theater
Like many vintage cinemas and performance venues this historic theater has its own ghostly lore. What makes this destination unique are its scandalous historical secrets as well as its peculiar Silver Screen specters such as the glowing green ghost said to wander backstage.

The tour guide had memorized a few stories, which she recited, but there was nothing if real interest. I also feared for my safety - The paths are dark, the tour guide took off at a blistering pace so we had to run to keep up. Worst tour I've ever taken.

Sorry you felt that way, from the exact same tour as yours got this review on Google: “We enjoyed the tour very much. Ari the guide was super knowledgeable and very enthusiastic in bringing the stories to life!” Sometimes the guests just don’t connect with the guide. We’re happy to put you on the tour with a different guide sometime and see if you have a better time.

It was foggy during the walk which added to the wonderful haunted talks. We enjoyed hearing about the history.

My grandson and I were recently in Bar Harbor and decided to do this ghost walk. The confirmation I got said to meet at Agamont Park. It took us a bit to find the tour leader. He was very nice, but he would go off on irrelevant tangents. We did enjoy some of his stories, and it was fun to hear about his own haunted house. The walk isn't terribly long, and I did appreciate being able to sit down when the leader was talking.
