What To Expect

Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve

Native guides will lead you through the meandering bayou in a shady, spacious pontoons boat under a relaxing breeze. Learn about the swamp's ecosystem and all of its mysterious lore while viewing the gators, egrets, raccoons, nutria, and snakes that call the swamp their home. If you are coming from New Orleans and need a hotel pick up, Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour offers pick-ups/drop-offs at select hotel locations for an additional fee. Please call for exact pick-up time/location options and to reserve your transport. All pickups are 1 hour prior to tour. There's a lunch option available for the 10 a.m. where you will dine at Restaurant Des Familes after your swamp adventure.

This was worth the cost, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant, courteous, and funny. Don't forget to bring a sweater, being on the water does get nippy in winter months.

Nice tour for a young family or older folks who appreciate a calm tour. Saw lots of turtles and alligators. Captain/Tour Guide was knowledgeable and funny.

The tour was nice and very pretty. However the guide did not do much narrating, granted it was raining and cold and we didn't not see much wildlife, but it would've been nice to have some background info or history of the area. Afterwards, it was very hard to get an Uber to pick us up. The buildings closed and all workers left while we sat there alone in the cold and wet weather. It would've been nice if they would've allowed us to wait inside or at least ask if we needed anything, instead they drove right by as we sat by ourselves and waited for roughly 45 minutes. Cool area and great sites, just need better hospitality.
