(9am) Easy Riders Haleakala Bike Tour ~ Voted Best Bike Tour in the Universe

Overview
- We are the only bike tour company that still bikes all the way to Sea Level, into the town of Paia.

- We do not offer self guided & unguided tours, they are not safe, most locals despise them, and they make all bike tours look bad.

- All of our helmets are light weight and comfortable, they also meet the highest level of quality and the highest level of safety. You'll cringe when you see the clunky, junky helmets other downhill bikers are given. You may choose to use a full face helmet, or a traditional half shell.

- Our tour is focused on quality and not quantity, unlike our competitors that herd dozens, even hundreds of bikers on a daily basis.

- With us you can ride at the pace you want, all other guided tours make the whole group ride behind the slowest rider.

- We easily have the best safety record on Haleakala.

- We have great humor, and we're very modest.

- All of our bikes are hand built in the USA, have very comfortable 13" padded seats with a spring for each cheek.

The ride itself was terrifying at the start but exhilarating once we got the hang of the steep hills and hairpin turns. Our group was fun, and we enjoyed learning some history on the ride up in the van. We appreciated the different stops so we could take in some spectacular views and also shed clothes and grab some drinks and snacks. Yes, it's pricey, but def worth it to have a small group and great equipment, including comfortable bikes and full-face helmets. Made us much more comfortable knowing we had extra protection -- including a chase van to keep cars away from us. I can't imagine trying to bike down Haleakala without a guide or with a big group. I think my favorite part was when John climbed a tree to show us his chameleon friend. Apparently she's been hanging (literally) in the same area for the past few months, so John looks for her on tours to introduce her and teach a little about the flora and fauna of the area. This ride really does have everything -- fear/drama, laughs, education and a LOT of fun! I would definitely recommend it. One final note: We did have an issue that the owner resolved quickly and professionally. He takes full responsibility for every tour, whether he is on it or not. You can be confident Billy works hard to ensure everyone who books thru his company has a great experience.

Basically coasting down a scenic road. Was OK, not worth price. After this tour got in car and drove all the way to summit in Haleakala National Park and hiked into crater and around astronomy domes. That was amazing and highlight of day. This tour not so much. Guides were friendly.

Iā€™ve spent several days thinking about how to respond to this review. Hereā€™s the truths: I own this. . It truly saddens me to see a 3 star review about my 5 star business. The tour was rushed. This particular tour lasted about 3 hours in total, instead of the usual 4-4.5 hours that it is designed to be. This will never happen again. Stopping points were purposely skipped by the tour guide on the bike. Your commentā€¦ā€Guides are friendlyā€™, yes that is accurate, thank you for that compliment. Ultimately several Corners were cut on that tour, and that is ultimately my fault, I am truly sorry. I am offering you or anyone you know 1 free private bike tour which I will personally conduct. If that was falls short of your original expectations Iā€™ll refund your original payment. Seems fair to also address your other comments: Comparing your drive up to Haleakala National Park in your own vehicle along with you unguided hiking experience into the most scenic crater on earth to our completely different ā€˜guided downhill bike tour is like comparing apples and oranges. There is nothing relevant or similar about the two experiences. Our tour does not mention or include the park, any hiking or astronomy domes. Seems relevant to also clarify the fact that every single astronomy dome on the entirety of Haleakala is in a restricted area, those areas are under the jurisdiction of the the United States Military, there are zero trails that are accessible to the public that go around them. There is a parking lot within sight of the domes where the masses gather, and there are some walking areas, but no hiking trails exist around the domes, it is just not possible to hike around them. Again, the tour should have been a highlight, Iā€™m sorry that it did not stack up to your National Park experience you did on your own. The crater is amazing, 3000 feet deep, 7 miles long, 2,5 miles wide, over 20 miles in circumference, and funded with tax dollars in an amount that exceeds the GDP of some of the worlds existing nations. Please Contact me if you want a free tour to try to make up for your let down.

Kyle was an energetic, funny, informative guide. Iā€™d recommend this experience to anyone comfortable on a bike.
