I was astounded (in a good way) at this library and museum. Every detail was indicitive of the effort poured into honoring our 37th president. I was lucky enough to visit on the 25th anniversary of his death and witnessed a wreath laying ceremony with a 21-gun salute. The birthplace home was a treat to tour along with the presidential helicopter, and the museum itself was filled with all kinds of goodies like a replica Oval Office just as he had it when he sat in the seat.

We have a bucket list now of Presidential Libraries to visit. I have to say that the Richard Nixon Library and Museum was amazing. We were pleasantly surprised at the ease in which we could explore the museum, traveling through time as it were to learn of all of his accomplishments. Accomplishments which we had probably known at one time or another, but were washed away by Watergate. His library was a tribute to the man, the times he served, it was very well done and very classy. I was completely blown away by some of the information. Clinton's library is beautiful, Reagan's is unsurpassed, the Bushes are good, Johnson's is pitiful, this one was perfect. The staff and volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. We just loved it. Probably will be number 1 on our list so far. Worth the trip and the time spent. Made me disgusted with the media cartoon presentation of him in the past. Nixon was a great president. Thank you to the book, "Who's Buried in Grant's Tomb" for the outline of the presidential libraries. Road trip in June to see more.

Well-made exhibition about the life and work of Richard Nixon. Even the Watergate scandal is covered in detail. Highlights are the 1:1 replica of the Oval Office, Nixon's birthplace, the presidential helicopter and the garden with the roses currently blooming beautifully in all colors. All of the staff, mostly senior citizens, are friendly and proactive in telling visitors more stories or details about Nixon's life. There is also currently an exhibition of oil paintings by George W Bush - also quite interesting. The Nixon Library is definitely worth a visit - even if I would have liked a few more hands-on stations like in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. But I don't think any other library can compare to that.
