The Skywalk is an engineering feat well documented in ASCE's Civil engineering magazine when it was built. But seeing it and standing on it is another experience. Just go there and enjoy the view because you can't take any pictures of yourself on the Skywalk - they do it for you at a price. Just as any other tourist trap, you could spend $80 on pictures only you can enjoy. The Skywalk is located at Eagle Point, which is an unprotected edge of the canyon. Don't be tempted to take a picture at the edge of a 4,000 feet drop. People die here trying to take pictures with their $2,000 Nikon. Be careful, stay off the edge. The only way to see all the attractions at Grand Canyon West is to park at the Airport and take a bus route run by the Havasupai Tribe. Buy the Legacy Gold ticket ($79.00) and you can visit three attractions - Skywalk, Eagle point (right there) and Guano Point and get a lunch included. Just keep off the edge and enjoy the view. The bus route runs only in one direction so you cannot go back and forth. You can also catch a helicopter ride to the bottom of the canyon from the airport for $130 pp. The gift shop has some of the tribal handicrafts and all the other souvenirs and T-shirts made in China, all priced to help you remember the quality soon after you bought it. Having said all that - this is a must do trip, the views are exhilarating, the drive from Kingman is beautiful and if you pick a nice Spring day, you will love it and remember it for a life time.
