We are very happy that we were able to see some of the exhibits at the African American Museum. We will have to go back to see the slave exhibit since it was so over crowded.

This tour was cancelled but my notification email till not arrive till 7 hours after the start time! I went to the museum anyway and explained my situation and they let me in, so I was very grateful. The museum is excellent, even if a little confronting at times. There is far more than you can take in at one visit, but I concentrated on the audio-visual presentations. They mostly had sub-texts so were easy to follow even when it was too noise to hear clearly. I understand why they have to restrict numbers. One down-side for winter is there is no cloak room and only a few lockers, so most people have to carry winter coats, gloves, hats etc all day. Nevertheless, a good presentation of an ongoing battle for justice, equality and freedom.

My husband and I loved everything about this tour. This tour included many stops that I had never seen before even though I have been to DC many times prior. The Martin Luther King Memorial was very powerful, I would have never been able to find the Fredrick Douglas house on my own and Ben's Chili Bowl restaurant was life changing. The African American History Museum was just wonderful as well. The logistics of the tour were well organized. Great tour guide who was very knowledgeable about this subject. Highly recommend.
