Make sure to bring an underwater camera to capture the colorful schools of fish, pods of spinner dolphins that are also commonly spotted in the bay. “Hawaii The Big Island Revealed” guide book says, “snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay near the monument is perhaps the best you will find anywhere in the state”.

The afternoon tour was perfect for our schedule, and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful--we lost our GoPro lanyard, and the fashioned an replacement from rubber bands for us! The captain and crew were friendly and helpful; we really enjoyed our afternoon on the water. They were so great, we went back to them for the night manta ray snorkel!
