What To Expect
1
Girdwood Brewing Company
Once fueled up on our lunches, we will make our way to Girdwood Brewing Company. Founded in 2017, we will cozy up in this beautiful brewery while we taste the hand crafted beers and receive a behind the scenes tour the brewery. Mingle with the locals and learn the art of brewing craft beer in the Last Frontier.
2
Turnagain Arm Drive
Continuing the adventure toward Anchorage, we will parallel the Turnagain Arm on the most scenic 40 mile drive in Alaska.
3
Anchorage Distillery
Continuing with our 100% Alaska crafted theme, we will visit the largest distillery in Alaska. Utilizing Alaska grown barley and wheat, fresh Alaskan berries, and pristine glacier water, Anchorage Distillery is crafting some of the state’s smoothest gins, vodkas, and whiskeys. We will sample these spirits straight or in a handmade craft cocktail and go behind the scenes to take a closer look at the production process.
4
Double Shovel Cider Company
Rounding out our Alaska Crafted Tour will find us at one of the most popular tasting rooms in the state, Double Shovel Cider Company. Named for a caribou antler formation prized by hunters, Double Shovel opened in 2016 as the first microcidery in Alaska. Sourcing as many local Alaskan apples as possible and utilizing a proprietary juice blend from the Pacific Northwest, see and sample these gluten free cider blends at the source. Your Alaska Crafted tour and transfer will finish with a hotel or airport drop-off.

Horrible service is the only way they roll. If you call and ask for anything at all, the customer service is sickening bad! It’s so horrible it’s hard to believe. The false advertising they promote of door to door is misleading. Horrible! Horrible service. Even the customer service people say the company sucks.

Hi Ken – Thanks for taking time to review on TripAdvisor. Your comments caught our attention as they are so far from the traditional feedback we receive with Big Swig tours. As a small family business, we take pride in answering questions and assisting travelers in Alaska as best we can. The tour you’ve reviewed is offered only from the mid-May through mid-September cruise season in Alaska. We see your current travels have you in Chattanooga, TN. Perhaps Big Swig Tours in Anchorage, Alaska wasn’t your intended review. Would you be able to provide us with the date you traveled from Seward to Anchorage with us? We would love to have the opportunity to dive into your experience and investigate further however we don't see your name in our records. We appreciate your communication and look forward to hearing from you. We thrive on excellent customer service as you can see from our 200+ reviews for our business.

Bryan picked us up at the Seward cruise terminal and transferred us to our AirBnB in downtown Anchorage. It was late in cruise season so ended up just being 4 of us which made this an even more amazing, intimate experience. I cannot say enough about what an incredible experience this tour was. To even call it a tour seems inaccurate since it felt more like we were picked up by an old friend that we hadn’t seen in a while who wanted to show us the best of Alaska. I highly, highly, highly recommend this as an alternative to a simple bus transfer to Anchorage. The initial 2 hour drive through “postcard Alaska” was breathtaking and Bryan shared a ton of information about the area, including the earthquake that altered the area topography in amazing ways. The tram to the top of Alyeska was stunning and lunch was tasty among such a gorgeous backdrop. The first brewery in Girdwood was by far our group’s favorite stop. Every beer was delicious, our host, Jake, was fun and knowledgeable, and they made us feel like family. We could have stayed all day. The second stop at the Anchorage Distillery was super informative, the staff very friendly and the cocktail was superb. We ended at Double Shovel and could not have asked for a better ending to the trip. We were met with a gorgeous day sitting in the open air tasting room and sipping on the tastiest ciders I’ve ever had. They’re truly masters of their craft with a cider for every taste. Throughout all of this I cannot stress enough Bryan’s professionalism, kindness, and depth of knowledge about Alaska. You can tell he takes immense pride in what he does and that he’s forged deep and meaningful relationships with the vendors on the tour. If cost is making you hesitate, I will say that this was worth every penny and more. Don’t hesitate and book today!!
