Overview

Taking off from the Alaska Glacier Lodge in the Mat-Su Valley to the Knik Glacier (5 miles wide by 29 miles long!). We land right in the middle of the Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes on ice thousands of years old with your pilot/guide. We provide ice spikes for you to safely hike on the ice Take pictures of the blue lakes on top of the glacier, crevasses and ice ‘sculptures’ made by wind, sunshine & time. (Summer)
**WINTER TOURS (Oct-April) please note that this tour in some winter months may not land directly on top of the glacier due to snow cover and safety issues, landing may be on the side next to incredible deep blue ice formations**
Total tour time 1 hour includes 30 mins for round trip flightseeing

WINTER TOURS - October - April -we are unable to land on top of the glacier due to snow cover. We will land next to the glaciers near the massive ice formations
Guests 300lbs or over require our Astar Helicopter to fly. This is not available for every time/day.Please call direct to assure we have that helicopter available to accommodate prior to booking.
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.
VAN TRANSFERS TO DEPARTURE LOCATION NOT INCLUDED - can be added for a fee

This trip was epic. I got in a day earlier than my friend and was able to book as a tag along to another solo traveler thanks to major help from their reservations team. I had never been in a heli before and was a bit nervous but our pilot Adam was amazing! We were the only people on the glacier. Adam was really knowledgeable and pointed out wildlife. He gave us options once we landed based on what we wanted to see and let us stay a bit longer than was planned. I was so stunned by this trip, I basically had my jaw open the entire time. So easy to do from Anchorage too. Highly recommend!

Even if you get a scare about the price, in the aftermath you say to yourself when has the opportunity to land on a glacier and then still walk on it?!? It was a dream of flight, the weather, the scenery and our grandchildren will never forget it!

Magnificent excursion, very well organized and the cherry on the cake, we were alone on board the helicopter with a passionate pilot. We were amazed…breathtaking landscapes with the majestic Knie Glacier displaying all its splendor just below us and far into the horizon. Then walk on the glacier equipped with studded “harnesses” on our shoes, making the walk pleasant and safe. Memory engraved forever in our memory. This excursion ticks all the boxes. I recommend her to 💯
