Ali'i VIP Whale Tour
Get the Royal treatment on our Ali'i VIP Whale Tour! We limit this tour to a maximum of 11 guests, so you have more opportunities to view the Humpback whales, and other sea life, in the most comfort possible. Our vessels are USCG rated to carry 26 guests, but this tour is all about you and your experience and is limited to 11 guests.

The Ali'i VIP Whale Tour is only offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Children must be at least four (4) years old.

After a whale watching tour with a large company, I wasn't quite satisfied, so we looked and found this opportunity. I was uncertain how it would feel being in a smaller boat, but there was no reason to be concerned. This smaller boat provided better views (no one jumping in your way) and much better appreciation of the whales' majestic size and behavior. This tour will probably remain one of my all-time life experiences. The boat is sturdy and safe. The guides (Captain Chad and Nixon) were fun and informative. Being closer to water level gave a view of the whales and perspective that is totally different and better than 2 previous whale watching excursions that I have been on. The guides found the whales and stayed with them so we could fully experience their presence instead of hurrying on to another spot. If you want full service with alcoholic beverages and food, a larger company is the way to go, but if you REALLY want to experience and view the whales, this is the best option. I will only ever use this company in the future! Thanks for providing us with an experience that my daughters, my husband, and I all agreed was a trip highlight!

We visited Maui from December 14-26 and we booked with Blue Water for a "regular" whale watching tour early in our trip. Chad and Nixon were so fun and informative! Unfortunately, a number of people on our trip ignored the "when the whales are on your side of the boat, please stay seated so the people on the other side can see". Hum. Undaunted, I booked again for the Ali'i Whale Watch smaller group tour. It was well worth the extra $40 a person! We had Chad and Nixon again and they remembered us which was very cool! They even suggested we snorkel at Mala Ramp; thanks for that! Lots of turtles :). On our Ali'i tour was another family who had a little guy who didn't enjoy himself the whole time. We really didn't mind (babies cry, right?). But as we got back to the boat ramp, Blue Water offered us another trip free of charge!! On that third trip, we had Mark and Brian as our captains, and they were just as much fun as Chad and Nixon. Third time's a charm, for sure; we had whales very close to us and they even swam underneath the boat! I was also impressed with the respect our captains had for the required distance from the whales - much better than some of the other boats who were still motoring less than 100 yards away. We'd definitely go back out with Blue Water if we return to Maui in whale season. Love from Calgary!!!
