Overview

Antelope Canyon X, located southeast of Lower Antelope canyon by the gateway town of Page, Arizona, is named after the Xs carved into the Navajo Sandstone created by millions of years of rainfall and wind. This part of the canyon is chiseled out by millions of years’ worth of flood erosion and impactful winds on its sandstone, enough to sculpt out the iconic "X" shape that aptly named the canyon.

Canyon X is a relatively new scenic tour and the lesser-known cousin of Upper/Lower Antelope Canyon, which results in fewer visitors by comparison to the other two.

Canyon X is a mixture of the characteristics of both the Upper and Lower canyon, with the Upper’s feature of pillars of light and the Lower’s steepness. Canyon X is also deeper than the other two and brings ample photo opportunities. It truly is a great vacation spot for photography as well.

The views were phenomenal. Our guide may have been new because he did not narrate as we were passing through sections of the slot canyon. He would answer questions. We overheard other guides narrating to their groups. So I think we missed out on some history. The guide did take great pics! Overall, I would recommend. Note, you are taking the tour with a larger group of people but are subdivided based on the van you ride in. You are taking turns with the other groups on going into the canyon and then turning around to come back in most cases.

The canyon is beautiful. You can reach out and touch the rocks and take gorgeous pictures. I would definitely recommend going there if you are in Arizona.
