Antelope Canyon X Hiking Tour (with Option Upgrade to Photo Tour)

Overview
Antelope Canyon X, located southeast of Lower Antelope canyon by the gateway town of Page, Arizona, is named after the Xs carved into the Navajo Sandstone created by millions of years of rainfall and wind. This part of the canyon is chiseled out by millions of years’ worth of flood erosion and impactful winds on its sandstone, enough to sculpt out the iconic "X" shape that aptly named the canyon.

Canyon X is a relatively new scenic tour and the lesser-known cousin of Upper/Lower Antelope Canyon, which results in fewer visitors by comparison to the other two.

Canyon X is a mixture of the characteristics of both the Upper and Lower canyon, with the Upper’s feature of pillars of light and the Lower’s steepness. Canyon X is also deeper than the other two and brings ample photo opportunities. It truly is a great vacation spot for photography as well.

Awesome slot canyon. There were about 35 people for our time, 12:20. We were split into 4 groups in 4 vans for a bumpy ride to the canyon. We were met by 4 guides that led us to the canyon. Each small group went in different directions so we didn’t crowd the narrow canyon. Our guide, Lana, was wonderful and helped us take pictures. We picked this over the more popular Upper Canyon because it is narrower and has less people.

We did the photo tour which was three hours. Between regular tours we had the canyons to ourselves and it was magical. A life highlight for us!

Message to viator team: I was unable to contact you directly as the help center button does not work. Overall, we had a great experience, but the ticket specifically states max 10 people per group and this was exceeded on our tour. At this ticket price for 1.5 hours, I would expect such guarantees to be kept. Experience: the tour was well-organized and the canyon and guide were great. It’s a 15 min van ride to the canyon, a long staircase down and then a couple of hundred meters through the canyon. It’s all pretty flat, an easy walk. The guide took our picture and gave tips as well. Just be aware that in the van not all seatbelts were working and the driver didn’t care.
