Overview

Travel along one of the world’s most isolated roads from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle on this memorable 12 to 14-hour tour through the Alaskan wilderness.

In the company of an experienced guide with a passion for Alaska, journey up the Dalton Highway, passing by the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, crossing the Yukon River, and reaching the edge of the Arctic Circle. On the drive back, watch for the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

This tour is limited to 9 guests to ensure that you enjoy a small-group experience in one of our climate-controlled vans.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the Northern Lights sightings and we can't guarantee last minute bookings.

We do encourage each guest to rotate seats at least a few times on this tour.

The weather conditions are in no way predictable in our area and we will not offer a refund in case of too many clouds.
Exact schedule and itinerary of stops are subject to change based on daily conditions and Northern Lights activity on the day of your tour.
There is a possibility of cancellation due to dangerous weather and/or road conditions. If this occurs, an alternative date or full refund will be offered.
Vegetarian option is available, please advise at time of booking if required. We are not able to provide gluten free or vegan options.
Type of transportation: climate controlled van
The group size is limited to 9 people for each passenger van. Bigger group bookings are possible and multiple vans will be used in this case.
Customers are strongly encouraged to rotate seats at least a few times on the tour to give each person the opportunity of having a different view.
This tour requires being able to enter and exit our van with limited assistance. Please contact us if you have any concerns about mobility.

What To Expect

Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point

We begin our 14-hour long journey to the Arctic Circle with a convenient pick up at any hotel or address inside the city limits of Fairbanks or North Pole. Settle into your seat and relax on the 200 mile (322 km) journey down the back roads of Interior Alaska. We provide free snacks and drinks to ensure your utmost comfort in our climate-controlled vans. Take a trip back in time as you travel down the Dalton Highway. Featured on the TV show Ice Road Truckers, the Dalton Highway (technically Alaska Route 11) runs north-south through Alaska, nearly all the way to the Arctic Ocean, and parallels the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. It’s one of the most isolated roads in the United States and provides some beautiful Alaskan scenery for you to enjoy during the ride. With sweeping views of mountains and valleys, you will see the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS), one of the largest pipeline systems, transporting thousands of gallons of oil from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, up close.

Tolovana River

Your driver will pull over at several different spots, including the Tolovana River and Wickersham Dome.

James Dalton Highway

Travel the remote Dalton Highway to Mile Post 115 to the Arctic Circle Campground.

This was a really nice tour and I highly recommend it. A few things you should know: 1 Yes, it's a long tour that returns in the early morning hours, but don't let that scare you away! There are several stops for restroom breaks, snacks, photo opportunities, etc. 2. Take the tour when much of the drive up will be in the light of day. We went the middle of March. It was just getting dark when we arrived at the Arctic Circle. That means for most of the drive we had amazing views and got to walk out on the frozen Yukon River. If you go in the dead of winter, it will be dark and you won't see much. 3. We took this tour because a Northern Lights Only tour may end up just being disappointing. Seeing the Northern Lights are 50/50 at best, but this tour is great even if you don't get to see the Aurora. We made it to the Arctic Circle, and had a great time, learned a lot and saw a lot, even though we didn't see the Northern Lights due to it being snowy and overcast. The driver stopped several times, but it just was not going to happen! However, we caught the lights the next night outside of Fairbanks so all was not lost. This tour was a highlight of our trip.

The tour was such an amazing journey to the Arctic Circle. All in all, I would rate it as excellent. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and provide loads of interesting facts and more over was very customer orientated.

There were only 4 of us on the tour which was nice but with my husband up front and a couple on the first bench seat I actually had the rest of the van to myself but, the windows were small so I had a very hard time seeing anything and the head set didnt work well so I couldnt hear anything over the rattle of the van. I tried pushing on the window trim to silence some of noise but my arm got tired. The lunch was horrible. The veggi was a couple of pieces of cheese and sliced carrots in rolls. I typically dont like plain potatoe chips but I ate them because I was hungry and it was a very long day. The sites were amazing and our guide, Ricky, tried really hard for us to see the lights...with no luck. By the time we got back to our hotel I was clostraphobic and naucious from not having a decent view and crabby from being so uncomfortable.i strongly recommend seeing the arctic and Yukon but would try a different tour company.
