Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point
We begin our 14-hour long journey to the Arctic Circle with a convenient pick up at any hotel or address inside the city limits of Fairbanks or North Pole. Settle into your seat and relax on the 200 mile (322 km) journey down the back roads of Interior Alaska. We provide free snacks and drinks to ensure your utmost comfort in our climate-controlled vans.   Take a trip back in time as you travel down the Dalton Highway. Featured on the TV show Ice Road Truckers, the Dalton Highway (technically Alaska Route 11) runs north-south through Alaska, nearly all the way to the Arctic Ocean, and parallels the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. It’s one of the most isolated roads in the United States and provides some beautiful Alaskan scenery for you to enjoy during the ride. With sweeping views of mountains and valleys, you will see the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS), one of the largest pipeline systems, transporting thousands of gallons of oil from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, up close.

This was the absolute worst tour that my husband & I have been on. It was a 14 hr tour that started at 14:00 hrs/2:00 pm. The driver, Jake, stopped just about every hour to smoke couldn't find the lights on a clear night & in turn we never saw the lights

We are sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience on your tour. Here at Alaska Wildlife Guide we strive to provide all of our guests with excellent customer service. Due to poor job performance and after being talked to my management, the tour guide in question is no longer a member of our team. While we do love getting reviews from our guests that show how wonderful of a time they had with our guides on their tours, we also do take negative reviews to heart. These reviews provide us with the means to make changes and grow positively for the future. Again, we apologize for the experience that you had on this tour. If you would like to speak further in regards to this matter, please feel free to reach out to our office and speak to a member of our management team.

Round trip from Fairbanks to Arctic Circle and back took us 13 hours and about 400 miles. Going to Arctic took longer (around 7) as you take stops, are excited for the journey, take pictures and what not. The first stop is right outside Fairbanks where you can use the restroom (you’re in for a long ride)! Then we stopped at the pipeline, Dalton highway one mile marker and a couple of really beautiful scenic spots to take pictures. It was all icy roads, Frozen trees, it just looked surreal! The last stop before Arctic is the Yukon River stop which is about 5 hrs into the trip and that’s where they give you a sac lunch containing 2 sandwiches per your dietary preference (that you must select at the time of booking), a bag of chips, a snack bar and a bottle of water. That’s the final restroom stop as well. Reached Arctic Circle at about 9:30 pm. Took some pictures under the van headlights. Waited for 30 min for Aurora and left. We knew there wasn’t a good chance of seeing the lights that day but the driver, Jake, did his level best to make sure we stopped at multiple points on the way back where he could see even the faintest of the lights. We couldn’t get any good enough photos of the lights that day. Jake was funny, knowledgeable and happily took our pictures when asked. The three complaints that I have are: 1) The cigarette smell in the van that would last for some time every time the driver smoked. 2) There was no mic in the van so we couldn’t hear him beyond the first row of the 12 seater van. 3) Viator listing says free unlimited hot drinks but there were none that were provided. Despite all of this, I would certainly recommend this tour. Arrived at our hotel at around 3:30 am and slept like a baby!

Everything was so awesome. The uniqueness of the places, the tour itinerary, and even our driver/guide—- Jake. Our tour commenced 2pm and ended 5am the following morning, the snow on the road was a bit challenging; but his driving was smooth and we really enjoyed! He also had a good grasp on secret spots for Aurora viewing on the way down from Arctic Circle. He was so patient, we had various stops for a superb surreal Northern Lights experience!
