I will start by saying that our tour guide, Tim, was amazing. He was very nice and knowledgeable and was fantastic. But the tour itself was a major letdown. The Arctic Circle is really far away and you are essentially driving out to be on the road for 16 hours to get out and take a picture next to a sign. They try to add on other things to see but it isn't worth it. You get to see a pipeline (not that exciting), and you get to stop at a "Trading Post" (that is closed), and get to stop and see the Yukon River (that is frozen over and covered in snow). And there are no good restrooms along the way. The "restrooms" are literal outhouses that are covered in frozen urine and ice. It was disgusting. And then, the tour company canceled the last portion of my tour without warning. Again, the driver was amazing, but the tour is not at all worth it.

Dear Amanda, Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. It does sound like we didn't make a good match on expectations for the tour and what you would see and experience. For others I would like to expand a bit more of the picture. We appreciate Amanda you choose to add the Aurora portion to your tour and it can be a great addition as others will read in other reviews. However, yes, it was canceled..."With No Warning" - the stop we make was broken into that day and they stole fuel and generator for heat and other damage that day. We were not warned it was going to be broken into and could not warn you. However, due to this unfortunate situation we did last minute cancel the Aurora portion of the tour for that evening. We did refund you for the missed aurora portion. We again are glad you enjoyed your time with Tim and are sorry the region wasn't what you were expecting to witness and see. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels to Alaska.

We left Fairbanks at 930 am. We had Tim as our driver of a coach with 24 passengers aboard. He made a stop at Safeway for people to buy food for the day, as the stops on our trip were not serving food. We had plenty of bathroom (outhouses) stops. Tim made sure they were well lit and had TP and hand sanitizers. Tim is extremely knowledgeable about Alaska. He gave nearly non stop info about everyplace we went and about flora and animals. On our return home, we encountered mechanical problems and he had to shut the coach down. Help from the Yukon Trading post arrived shortly after and got us moved to the trading post. We were offered hot drinks there until arrangements were made to get us back to Fairbanks. We were loaded up into 2 vans which stayed close together the whole way back. We arrived back at 530am. The Best part, we got to see the lunar eclipse AND the aurora while near the Yukon!!

Thank you Csb1523 for joining Tim on your Adventure .. a bit more then you expected but so glad you enjoyed the trip. While you did have a mechanical we appreciate you sharing with others how you were taken care of. We do want to share a good, authentic, and SAFE adventure in Alaska's Arctic. Jealous you saw the lunar eclipse -- I didn't stay up late enough! Best wishes for a great holiday season.
