ARGO Mill Tour

Overview

Experience the wonder of ingenuity, technology, and entrepreneurial spirit that is the Argo Mill & Tunnel with a guided walking tour. Situated in Historic Idaho Springs in the heart of Colorado Gold Country sits the Mighty Argo Mill and Tunnel, one of the most striking and prominent Heritage Landmarks in the American West. The Argo is a central character in the story of the Colorado gold rush and remains one of the largest, most well-preserved historic gold mills in the world.

Each professionally guided tour of the Argo Mill and Tunnel takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. A gold panning lesson and experience, which lasts about 20 minutes, is also included with every Argo Mill and Tunnel tour.

The tour guy had a ton ok knowledge and was very informative. My son asked a ton a questions and he answered them all and explained it in a kid term so he understood.

Our recent visit, led by Brandon, was fantastic. He was very informative, experienced, and answered all questions with enthusiasm. The facilities were very well maintained, and the preservation of history, also very impressive. For anyone within a 1-2 hour drive, I would say, it's worth it (if you're into mining and or mountain town history). There was a few kids on the tour as well (8-12 years old) and they were blown away.

We took three of our adult children to visit and take the tour at the Argo Mill while we were vacationing in the area. Our tour guide, Erin, was fantastic! She was very outgoing, personable and had great knowledge of the history of the Argo mine and mill. Erin went out of her way to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves and that our special needs son with autism was doted on and included in our activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would request Erin by name if we return to area and bring other family with us. Great experience!
