Doug and Debbie, Thank you for preparing personal research beforehand for our morning at Arlington. It gave me pleasure to guide you to areas of the cemetery that I don't frequently visit. So a treat for me as well. Safe travels on your way back to Hawaii. Tom

This was one of five experiences we had with Tom Schultz from DC Military Tours. As other reviewers have said, Tom has an extensive knowledge of the National Cemetery and walked my wife and I around, pointing out the key internments and monuments and giving plenty of background and context. The Guard change ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns was as moving as you would expect and Tom's knowledge of the details of the ceremony was excellent. We also stopped at the Marine Corps memorial at the end of the tour. Tom is much more than a tour guide. He is a historian who also has the knowledge and experience of a 20 year Navy veteran. On a practical level he picks up from your accommodation and drops you back at the end of the tour (that said, on this occasion, he kindly dropped us in Georgetown). Tom's knowledge is extensive as you would expect. That said, his superpower, if you like, is the ability to pitch and flex your experience to exactly what you are interested in. In Arlington he will seek out areas or individual burials for you. For us he took us to some of the less visited areas of the cemetery where the Civil War and First War burials are and where the USCT lie. Tom doesn't necessarily follow a set route or script, he's too good for that, and he will 'call an audible' if he thinks a stop somewhere would be interesting for you as his listens to your questions and comments. Tom's enthusiasm for history is obvious and somewhat infectious, and this makes him a perfect guide. We would highly recommend DCMT to anyone.

Colin and Allison, Thank you for your kind review. I was glad that we were able to make some discoveries together in Arlington. I had not had a chance beforehand to visit the few Commonwealth graves from WWII at the Cemetery so I was pleased we could share that experience. The 'roads less traveled' at Arlington always lead to a more thorough and intimate experience. As I may have mentioned, it would take three days to see all of Arlington. On your future return trip, we can see more intimate areas of the Cemetery that we did not cover this time around. Our new friendship is important to me. Please come back soon. - Tom
