The guide wasn’t too informative and not at all hospitable. It was mostly silent in the car and if he did, maybe, say something and if you were sitting in the back, you couldn’t hear him and he couldn’t hear you. Because you are riding in a 7 passenger SUV, if you’re in the last row, you’ll get stuck if the row in front doesn’t get out. We did see some Auroras which was nice but that was not his doing.

We are very sorry your tour with us did not meet up to your expectations. As an owner-operated enterprise, all our drivers have a much higher incentive to deliver a first-rate experience to all our customers. Regarding some of the points you made in your review, we do not encourage our drivers to socialize or narrate extensively while driving, as your absolute safety requires their undivided attention on the road as they navigate some of the most treacherous winter nighttime driving conditions to reach the remote locations we use for viewing and photographing the auroras. Instead, our drivers usually provide very detailed and lengthy orientation and aurora science information at their extended initial stops along the route, in addition to considerable personal interaction with the guests during the other stops to make sure they are happy (staying warm and getting good photos of the aurora!) and answering any questions they may have. Your driver informed us that he routinely checked in with you throughout the night, at which times you had opportunity to get information or address any issues you may needed help with, such as your seating or what-have-you. He was totally unaware you were not pleased with the tour.

My husband and I came to Fairbanks in order to see the Aurora. We booked a tour with Rene at AuroraQuest. We met them in the parking lot of Walmart at 10pm. There was one other guest and the tour guide. We drove out the Elliott Hwy and found a couple of good viewing spots. Our guide was very patient and we got to see some great views of the Aurora. I highly recommend AuroraQuest.

Parked mostly on Elliott Highway, 30+ miles out of town. Had large vehicle to get in and out of to keep warm, some warm beverages and a patient guide. Got to see the Aurora, including one particularly vivid display, which was the main goal of our trip, our sixth to Alaska and first Aurora sighting.
