Beginner Surf Lesson in Santa Cruz

Overview

Learn to surf in Santa Cruz during a 2.5-hour clinic designed with the beginner in mind. Novices are welcome, as well as anyone who has tried surfing but could use some tips for balancing on the board and catching a wave. You'll get plenty of practice with paddling and pop-up techniques while learning about wave breaks, ocean conditions, and safety in and out of the water, including surf etiquette. Includes all necessary equipment.

Perfect site for beginner lesson. Wetsuits kept us plenty warm and our instructor, Chad, was awesome- making sure everyone caught some waves. His assistant, Deanna was super helpful too. I didn’t want to do my first surgery lesson at 61 but my daughter wanted to and I’m so glad I did. Beautiful day in the pacific.

Huge kudos and thanks to instructor, Jess, for going above and beyond. I booked my nephew (visiting from the UK) on to a beginner surf lesson. On the day, the lesson had to move due to surf, so I got a call that morning from Jess to let me know, but my nephew was a) car-less and b) without a phone... meaning that even if I could contact him (which I couldn't -- i'd put him on the 17 express bus from San Jose early that morning), he wouldn't have been able to get to the new location 20mins south of Santa Cruz. After I explained this to Jess, she immediately offered that she would go to the original meet place, find him and drive him to the new location -- and then back again at the end of the day. Wow. I was sooooo appreciative. She turned, what could have been a disaster, into a huge day for my nephew (coz the lesson was great too!) I can't thank her enough!
