Beneath The Streets Underground History Tour

Overview
Go underground on a 1-hour walking history tour through Seattle's original neighborhood. Our experienced guides lead small groups through, and beneath, Pioneer Square to the street level that existed in the 1890s. Explore underground pathways that were built more than 120 years ago, learning details on early Seattle history, why these spaces were built, and how they have been used (and misused) over the years. Marvel at how this once Indian encampment has since transformed into one of the 20 largest cities in the United States.

Our tour guides participate in workshops on cultural traditions and history with special guest historians and Native Tribal members as continual professional development.

The tour is a good length (1 hr) and very informative. Mike was our tour guide. He is very funny and high energy. He made the tour extremely enjoyable. I'm not sure my teens would have liked it so much without him. Worth the money.

I had such an amazing time on the Beneath The Streets Underground History Tour! Our guide, Sarah, was absolutely fantastic — funny, energetic, and full of incredible stories that brought Seattle’s hidden past to life. Her storytelling made the hour fly by way too quickly. I could’ve listened for hours! I learned so much about the history of Seattle, and it gave me a whole new appreciation for the city. If you're visiting Seattle, this tour is a total must! It’s the perfect mix of fun and education, and Sarah truly made it special. Highly recommend!

The tour guide was nice, but the beginning was only a couple of rooms underground with a lot of surface level tours. The tour finished with a bit more underground. Just very misleading to call it an underground tour when most of it was above ground. It should be made clear that the tour goes through underground rooms and is not entirely underground.
