We had an amazing trip with our Guide Shoyo. We started our trip at around 3pm and drove to the visitors center at the volcano to aclimate and eat the delicious sandwich which Shoyo had prepared. We spent there around 60mins before going up to the summit to watch the sunset. Warm jackets and pants were included in the tour since it can get pretty cold up there. After the sunset we went down again to the visitors centers to watch and explore the nightā€˜s sky. Shoyo knew a lot about the stars and the zodiacs in the sky - very interessting. During thr whole trip Shoyo was taking pictures of us with his professional camera and he sent us thr pictures once the trip was done. We had an amazing afternoon/evening with Shoyo and we thank him for taking his time with explaning a lot of interesting things to us as well as taking amazing pictures!

My family and I absolutely loved it and really appreciated the tour guides, Wes and Shoyo for the kindness they showed throughout the tour. Yumiko was the sweetest answering every question we had leading up to the tour and helping us with the reservation. The views at the summit are truly breathtaking and must be on everyoneā€™s bucket list. I do want to advise to prepare to be in best condition for the tour as altitude sickness can be tough for some. Thank you Hawaiian Eyes Tour for unforgettable memories and highly skilled photos the tour guides took of us.

Fantastic tour! Seeing the sunset at Mauna Kea is breathtaking. They take you to the visitor's center for acclimation for about an hour (sandwiches they provided were delicious!), then drive you to the summit with a couple of short photo stops in between. They take pictures of you and your group and then send them to you at the end of the tour. On the way down, you stop at the visitor's center again for stargazing (and they give you hot chocolate and cookies!). They set the telescope on the moon the night that we went. I wished they would have also set the telescope on some of the stars. There's one telescope for the whole group to share (for us, there were 6 on the tour that night). My teens and I loved it. They gave us coats, gloves, and offered ski pants (unnecessary).
