Tour departs from the AUSTIN VISITOR CENTER located at 602 E. 4th Street, Austin, TX 78701.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start time for check in. We are unable to delay the tour for guests who arrive late.
Guests with young children must provide their own car seats and arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the tour to install them in the van as our guides are not permitted to handle car seats.
Parking is available in the Austin Convention Center Garage which is connected to the Austin Visitor Center. Enter the garage on E 5th St between Red River and Sabine.
The tour runs rain or shine, however we reserve the right to cancel the tour in the event of extreme weather and/or hazardous road conditions that would potentially affect the safety of our guides and guests.
Guests with limited mobility are welcome to bring a wheelchair or portable scooter on board to be folded and placed in the rear of the van. The vans are not equipped with a ramp or wheelchair lift however, so all guests must be able to step up into the vehicle (about 12 inches).
We do not permit animals or pets of any kind. Guests with a service dog MUST contact the tour operator in advance to request approval.
If you have cold or flu-like symptoms or if you are feeling ill in any way, please do not join the tour.

Such a fun and intimate tour. Do this when you first arrive so you know all the great places to visit. Our tour guide was awesome and we focused the rest of our trip around his recommendations.

Austin is an incredibly entertaining and welcoming city, and we loved spending time there. If you're like me, and you enjoy a good tour and opportunity to get the lay of the land before wandering about on your own, then be sure to take the Best of Austin tour with Austin Detours. We were driven ALL around the city for a few hours in a super comfortable passenger van. All along the way, we were treated to insights and fun facts about Austin. We heard about and saw everything from the bat bridge to the state capital building to the music district to historic hotels to ghost stories and food recommendations. I came away from the experience with a good sense of the many different neighborhoods and what makes them fun, and a mental list of all the places we would go back to for a deeper dive. Although much of the tour is riding in the van and hearing great stories about the sites, we got to get out and walk around a few times - a quick tour of the state capital building, a gelato stop, and a photo op at the Austin postcard mural. Our tour guide, Jax Washington, was a delight. She clearly loves her job, her company, and her city and her enthusiasm was infectious. In addition to a great tour, she also gave us each a post card about the company and it included restaurant, shopping, and music venue recommendations that were based on her experience rather than some sponsorship. This company shut down during the early days of the pandemic but then got right back out there and got their people and their vans and their tours moving again. Great spirit! Great company! Great city!
