We got the premium tickets for the hop on hop off bus tour New York. This was ideal for our 4 day stay with limited time in Time Square NY September 2017. This was so convenient to get around, there are so many stops to make it easy to get to where you want. It was very useful in getting to the different attractions & destinations, without the hassle of using the confusing subway routes. The bus tours provided so much detailed information & knowledge of NYC. I highly recommend this to first time travelers to NYC. We did a night tour which was fantastic & will definitely do again when in NY again. I must say our night tour guide Leon was knowledgeable, funny and accommodating, best tour guide we have ever come across. Leon provided detailed information of every building, monument & structure. It was like having a real life Siri in front of you that knew every detail of NYC. Our driver Lee was exceptionally amazing, the way he navigated through the NY traffic, meant more time sightseeing instead of sitting in the heavy traffic.

1) We travel a lot and are flexible, but this night tour on Tues. Oct. 3,2017 was the WORST ever...so beware... 2) LONG line at Times Square (by M&M's store) to get ON bus (NO bathrooms close by) 3) Bus BROKE down in the MIDDLE of intersection 4 blocks away while turning left which caused a HUGE traffic jam w/ horns, people yelling, and a long delay. 4) "Broken transmission" per guide who hustled us all off w/o any communication on WHERE to go or how LONG we'd wait. 5) No bathrooms we could use at several stores (even upscale ones) so we FINALLY went upstairs to the Hilton and a hotel guest gave us his key as front desk wouldn't let us. 6) On new bus (20-30 min. wait) the guide who spoke on the 2nd deck (? named Mark) talked very slow, REPEATED himself at least 7-10 times, and shared how wonderful our driver was as he was driving very s l o w l y over the Brooklyn Bridge and ALL the way back to Times Square so we could get (say this SLOWLY: "'CRYSTAL CLEAR P H O T O S!!:) Cars behind us were furious most the way *8-9 pm at night) honking, swerving around us, gesturing with hands, etc. It went ON & ON and he sounded stoned or high (we are medical professionals & don't exaggerate) 7) "Mark" never stopped talking/repeating exact same info re Empire State Lights changing color, and other info. he clearly didn't remember sharing previously. THEY NEED MORE BUSES as we heard/saw 2 OTHER buses break down the next day when we did the Red Line tour. LOOOONNNGGGG lines all over town with VERRY frustrated visitors (25-30 in some lines by Stock Market/Battery Park/Staten Island) in the late afternoon). From the top deck on our HOUR long ride back to Times Square we saw curbside "Big Bus" Employees physically holding tourists back as they stormed the doors knowing only a few spots were available. Exasperated hot, tired, and irate folks were a plenty. " Nick" was an excellent day Guide who had a great sense of humor, & excellent NY city history. Kudos to him! Years ago with this same company a 'questionable' looking guide as we went past a hospital near Central Park re : This is where John Lennon was born." HULLOOO? That was Liverpool, This hospital was where he was taken after he was shot. The quality of the drivers/guides/curb side employees is (with the exception of Nick) sliding fast. A tourist on our horrible 'night tour' wondered out loud if this company does random drug testing. Again, we are fair minded folks who have raised kids/work demanding jobs, and are saddened to even write this. Prior good reviews 'sold' us on purchasing the "Big Bus Tour." We want to CAUTION you re broken down buses, indifference re where to find bathrooms, LONNNGGG waits, & a shortage of buses. This took a lot of time to type, so please know we have future tourists in mind as NY is amazing....just not on these buses ~
