I should have known better than to book tour bus on a holiday weekend. Too many streets were closed, so not all the stops could be made. This was just bad luck, nothing the company could do. I had far better luck when I tried a different company on a different day. The reason I tried a different company, rather than using Big Bus again, was that the staff seemed harried, and the graphics over the windows kept me from being able to get any good photos. Then, in 90+ degree heat, we were moved from an air-conditioned bus to a non air-conditioned bus with no explanation given. I walk with a cane and needed assistance with the high steps on and off the bus; other passengers helped me because the staff never offered even though they saw me.

We booked the Hop On Hop Off tour in other cities and enjoyed it but our experience in DC wasnā€™t great. We waited over an hour for the bus to arrive. Once we rode that bust to a main line and boarded we realized that there was no one on board to narrate the trip and the audio system was not very good. Will use the Metro to get around in DC in the future.

Ok first off. I have used this company in 4 other cities and although I was never thoroughly impressed by the service, it was manageable. However, this Washington service was an absolute joke. And by joke I mean, it actually got comical at points. The buses were absolutely packed on both levels and they wouldnā€™t start running more buses. Over our two day trip we had to disembark 3 buses!!!! Two of them literally broke down. One had a massive issue with the audio system at each seat. Each time we had to get off and wait at the stop 10-15 minutes for a replacement to come. No compensation was offered. Itā€™s an absolute disgrace and the company should be ashamed of themselves. The quality of product that companies provide customers is usually a source of pride. Not in this case. Instead of using this service in Washington, simply laugh at the people that do.
