Booked tickets at the first stop near the Washington Monument, with a guide who was staring around. However, this was one of the few stops where there was a guide and having been on numerous HopOn buses in many cities this was unusual. There also seemed to be a severe lack of buses that were visible around DC. Great from the point of view of seeing all the man sites but on a couple of occasions we waited so long and queues were large we jumped on the Circulator local bus for a $1 to move between the Jefferson. Lincoln memorials. Might have been a great deal cheaper to use this to "hop on / off" than the actual tour bus. Good that it took you out to Arlington, which is a must do, but due to road closures we couldn't drive past the area of th Capitol Building. As I said pluses and minuses.

Take the complete tour ride before getting off at a stop, unless you are really set on one site. Overall great experience that hits all the major sites.
